Finally got the A4 project on the road. Q about checking clockspring.
I finally got around to putting my 1996 A4 back together Sunday, and to getting it out for a test drive and a car wash last night. 12V V6 FWD with 5-speed transmission is fun and has remarkable power off the line compared to the 2 30V auto A4s we have. Blasted off all the PS fluid that accumulates on every Audi near the reservoir as the hose loses it's flexibility and leaks past the clamp.
The biggest issue at this point is the air bag light. VWTOOL tells me there's high resistance in the driver's side ignitor. It comes back on every time about 2 seconds after the DTC is cleared. A STFA shows that it could be anything from a corroded/loose connector, bad clockspring, to a bad airbag itself. Guess I'll be taking that apart and looking it over in the next couple days.
Is there any way to test the clockspring on a 1996? Would it be as simple as checking the continuity of each wire from end to end?

Don't mean to hijack your thread but noticed your "extra parts" link...
I helped a friend pick up a C4 A6 last night and I think he is interested in this (see link). I'll have him email you but wanted to give you a heads up...<ul><li><a href="http://s100.photobucket.com/albums/m32/JunkyardCars/Audi%20Parts/Extra/?action=view&current=DSCN3073.jpg">head unit</a></li></ul>
