first break down (large)

<center><img src="http://i1.tinypic.com/noua7o.jpg"></center><p>so i was on my way from cincinnati to pittsburgh last weekend and got less than 5 miles out of the city before i looked down and my temp guages shot up and the coolant alert light came on. so i immediately pulled over and started looking for the culprit, and found that the lower radiator hose had come off from the connection to the radiator, i dont know what kind of clamp was on there to begin with, but it was nowhere to be found. fortunately i was less than a mile from an audi dealership so got there and had that all taken care of relatively quickly, and then as im paying for the privilage of having them look at my car, the guy tells me i also have a slow leak in my cam tensioner and that its not urgent but i should have it done, and it will cost about 875. so the car has about 85k and had new clutch and timing belt at 78. so two part question A: how quickly do i need to take care of this, i havent noticed any change in drivability. and B: what is a realistic price quote for this job, i saw a few posts down someone got 400, i got 600 from a local audi vw specialist. this is my first car, and i dont have many tools with me, so i doubt that a DIY is really an option. any insight is greatly appreciated.

The cam tentioner gaskets (there are two) leak after about 80k. They have produced an improved gasket. It's a pretty involved job, believe me I've done it and regret it. I wouldn't be in a hurry do have this done. Make sure to check your oil every time you fill up and unless you are looseing alot of oil (like 1 qt. per 1000 miles) dont' worry about this. When your next timing belt job comes up have both gaskets replaced with the normal timing belt equipment (water pump, tentioner...) This will probably cost well over $1000 but will make this engine go for along time. Good luck.
