Default Flashing CEL - coilpack gone bad?

2001 AWM, 106k with APR 93 octane program - Got a flashing CEL a few miles from home. Limp mode, running terrible. Temps fine, idle fine, vac is spot on, no other warnings, so I limped home. Scan, all I get is a random cylinder misfire, and a cylinder misfire on #4 codes. Basically feels like the cylinder dropped right out, and isnt firing at all.

Bad coilpack right? I did a search and found this P/N: 06B905115R
I'll pick one up at the VW dealership tomorrow, but just wanted to verify thats the problem.

Also, are any tools needed for the swap?

Thanks!!!!!!

Very possibly a bad coilpack. Just need an allen wrench to do the job. 4 mm?

Default BEFORE you go buy a new one

Swap out the coil packs to ensure that it really is the coil not the plug or the connector or the ecu or or or or....

Good luck!!

Default You thinking of the packs that are fastened down with allen screws?

Because mine is an AWM... no screws holding it down.

OR, do I need it otherwise?

Thanks!

I've never seen a 1.8T that doesn't use allens to hold 'em down. I suppose it's possible, though.

Default AWM does not, you'll sometimes see posts about coil packs popping out.

happened to me a few times. spark plug was not torqued properly.
