GM Top Engine Cleaner in Audi A4 2.8?
I have a bottle of GM's top engine cleaner, and
was wondering if it was ok to run that in the audi's. The reason why im doing this is because im getting rough starts/misfires right after a cold evening, car will be perfect after like 2 minuets of misfiring.
oh yea, how do i check which cylinder is misfiring ... i think its all of them because my check engine started flashing as if my car was about to keel over. I used vag-com to see the codes and it stated "continuous multiple misfires"
ive cleared the codes and has not come back yet... probably tomorrow morning.
thanks

Secondary Air Injection System?!?! (LONG)
I have heard this problem so many times now and it's always the same symptoms. Rough running for the first 2 minutes. I just find it so ironic that this is also the schedule for the Secondary Air Injection system on these cars and I can't help but wonder if it's related. I had a friend with an 2.7T A6 and he had the same problem. Took it to Audi several times to which the finally said "It's normal".
For those of you that are not familiar, the secondary air injection system works like this: When the car is cold, (or been over like 4 hours since last ran) the car will start and run the secondary air injection system. You can tell it's running because the car will sound louder and have a throatier rumble to it. Two vaccum actuators (at least on the V6, may be 1 on 1.8T) open up and the secondary injection pump blows clean air into the exaust pipe which goes directly into the Cat's. I am not positive about this, but I believe the car at this point runs purposefully rich thus unburnt gas should be entering into the CAT, mixing with the clean air, combusting and heating the CAT's much more rapidly than if it didn't do that.
My theory is, perhaps your plugs are bad, and when the car is running rich it's causing the rough idle. Or maybe sometimes, it just can't run well with that rich mixture.
I know for sure, if I give my car a good belt of gas when that pump in running it WILL backfire every time up until that pump turns off and then it runs fine. This is what gave me the idea that the mixture was purposefully enriched. I never did figure out where the popping was coming from be it intake or exhaust, but it definately is not running optimially when that pump is on.
I am really curious if anyone has any other opinions or thoughts on this.

Re: Secondary Air Injection System?!?! (LONG)
thanks for the information,
ive noticed that i get intermittent miss with air inject engine code every once in a while, i hear that this is a common problem and there is a recall on our cars. Im assuming that this can cause various problems with our cars.
I should get this hosed fixed
