Default H&R Springs Which is better???

I ahve been doing some reading on H&R springs. they have a Sprot and a race version. the sport is aobut 1.25 drop and i think 1.0 in the rear? the race has 1.9 and 1.4. my question is that in EC they used a Neuspeed spring rated at 2.0 all around. if it is 2.0 how come thy only gor a 1.25 inch drop?? is it due to the Adjustable height of the shocks???
now if this is the factor then is it worth buying the race springs over the sport springs?? how much harder is the race springs compared to the sport. i want something smooth and very responsive. my last car was a Mercedes Benz 190E 2.6. it was lowered using Eibach pro kits and Bilstein shocks. this was perfect! smooth ride with a good responsive feel. only thing that i didn't like is on a turn the car would sill lean alot!
Thanks in advance!

Default Re: H&R Springs Which is better???

FWIW, the shop that did the Neuspeed sport spring/Bilstein installation on my 1.8TQ had a set of "slightly used" H&R race springs for sale. The original customer had found them too harsh for the street. Sorry that I can't comment any further.
Regarding the EC article, what they called "Race Springs" are actually the Sport Springs that are listed in the catalogue. And, yes, the drop depends on which groove you set the spring perch. If you use the recommended setup - third (middle) groove up front and bottom groove at rear - you end up with about a 2 inch drop.
I believe Eibach springs are also available for the A4 but haven't heard how they compare.
HTH,
Jim

Default I have H&R Sports...

...with the Koni Sport shocks (set to medium). It's a nice firm (not harsh) ride, with minimal squat and dive; pretty flat in the corners, even with stock (non-sport) sways. The Sports are supposed to lower 1" rear and 1.25" front. I measured before and after and mine came out 1.25" rear and 1.5" front. Looks good and rides great! Email me, if you want more info/pictures.
CraigB
