Has anybody added another siren or backup siren to their factory alarm system?
This weekend 6 cars got stolen from my building's garage. I live directly 3 floors up from the garage door and I can only barely hear my alarm when it sounds, Audi didn't want to make them very loud apparantly. In previous cars I've been able to tap into the siren for the alarm and add an aftermarket mechanical siren, but after looking around couldn't find what I was looking for in the A4. Any help is appreciated.

Screw aftermarket siren. Get air horns. I had some Hella 130dB ones on a Celica in college...
...friends would set the alarm off on purpose so it could be heard all over campus, including my dorm room on the back side of a multi-story building 100-200 yards away from where I parked. Sorry, I can't be of help on how to hook it up though.

Heres a cheap idea.....
I think the best thing to add to an existing alarm is a "pain generator" or a "mini piezo siren."
Place it inside the car and it wil chase away any thief!
Adding a louder siren under the hood will only make a louder alarm that people will ignore just the same.
They're like $5 to $10 and are loud as doo doo.

I like that idea. maybe I could do that as well.
my main intent was to wake me up when it goes off. I would imagine with a louder alarm I'd be able to hear it upstairs. just think of a mechanical alarm inside a parking garage, it'd hurt

the factory alarm is easily defeatable on the b5, so a parallel siren won't help
i would recommend a standalone alarm that is wired in parallel with the stock alarm. basically 2 alarms, 2 starter kills and a aftermarket alarm like the Viper or clifford rsx3.5 has hood, door, trunk and shock sensor triggers.
worth alook if you want supplement your car's alarm system.
