car then dyno'd it to measure the power gains?
Do any of you guys think thats the kinda thing Audiworld should do from time to time.
Have impartial group tests on products like intake kits exhausts suspension and brakes?

They could persuade the manufacturers or importers to donate the parts
and get a tuner wi a dyno to sponsor the test.
The boy racer mags Like Max Power and Fast Car have tests like that sometimes never on an A4 tho.

European car did a test in Nov 2001 on like 7-8 different
exhausts hooked to a 1.8T Jetta and dyno'd em and rated them for sound, performance, fit and finish etc.. Neat article, good info, some of the exhaust systems reduced power, some increased etc. I have the issue right in front of me...

Yes... that's something they should do... will do is a different matter...
Several companies advertise on AW... I'm sure they would put pressure on AW to NOT start a pissing contest between all the suppliers. Afterall if there are 3 exhausts for the 1.8T A4 and AW shows that one is superior the other two could be negatively impacted.
Also gets them into wishy-washy ethical grounds for the same reasons.

The test situation they used wasnt very good.
The tests were done over a course of a day and due to different air temperatures, car temperatures, etc it the results were not very accurate. Heck, the oettinger rear muffler did better than almost every single full downpipe back system. Also, the supersprint exhaust was a race version specially supplied by supersprint and didnt really belong on such a mildley modded car.

Yea, a little strange testing, but interesting, Autotech was about
the best overall, but do they make one for a4's?? And Jetex was just plain terrible...Greddy was pretty bad... but who's to say the test was not flawed? Like you said it was not really done right. Still good reading and a good base to go from for making a decission, one that rated much worse in the test is probably a safe bet that you shouldn't get it... but if they are close then???

yeah but then someone loses, and sales plummet.....not so sure how enthusiastic they'd all be.......
imagine being the manufacturer of the one that lost
nonetheless, I think it's a great idea and would love to see it happen
