HELP PLEASE.....speaker problems

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew how the heck I am supposed to change a blown speaker on my 2001 Audi A4 non bose system. I got some 5 1/4 speakers and they don't fit on the front. Does anyone know where I can get an adapter to make it fit? Where can I purchase one? I tried circuit city and they tell me to go to dealer and buy speakers but stock speakers suck. Any help would be much appreciated.

you just want the speaker adapters ? ... or your looking for speakers that will fit ?

Thanks for the reply. I have a pair of boston acoustic component 5 1/4 my cousin gave me but when I took it to circuit city to change my front speakers, they said that it doesn't fit...too big and that I need to go to the dealer. So is there some way to get it to fit because all the best buy and circuit city people say it's 5 1/4 speakers for the front. Is there any adapter that will work?

Adapters yes, and be warry of CC and BB places... they can be a bit of a hack-job.

Someone here was selling them, I forget who--but that may have been years ago? Check the audio forum and search for it, it WILL show up. Lots of discussion on it over the years.

thanks for the reply. I heard everyone talking about an mb quarts adapter but I can't seem to find a link to a place that I can find it or a place to buy it. Any help would be appreciated.

Exactly. I think they're discontinued now.

Just do a search for MB quart adapter, and you'll see some hits varying from how to guides in the archives, to people suggesting you take it to a decent stereo shop, who can do the job.
