Help: VAG codes need decoding...
My check engine light came on and stayed on for 2 days and then went away by itself.
Car drives OK. The VAG codes sound freaky tho, but my car seems ok to me. I can't tell if things are going to break in a month or so. What shall I do??
The VAG codes were:
16502- Engine coolant temp sensor (G62)
Signal too high
35-10 ---Intermittent
17929 - Intake Manifold Valve 2 (N261):
Electrical Failure
31-00 Open or Short to Gnd
17965 - Change Pressure Control Positive Deviation
35-10 ---Intermittent
My car is a 97 1.8TQA stock. 60k miles on it.
Thanks people.
Rgds,
Mike

The second one, I have no idea. I tried to do a quick look in the bentley and didn't see anything. [It's in there somewhere]. The bentley manual would be a great thing to pick up. As a troubleshooter.
And the third one suggests. Something is not right with your boost. Try running a block 114 and 115 and compare your requested vs your actual boost. And the duty of the n75 valve [boost frequency valve].
Here is another link that explain what the vag-com blocks are [must be registered software to be able to log blocks]

I'm sure other will chime in, as the sun rises

No clue about the second...
On the third, you won't be able to log actual vs. requested boost since you're non-DBW. If you've got a boost gauge, does your boost seem normal? You may want to just plunk down an additional $40 while you're at the dealership getting an ECT sensor and get yourself a new Bypass Valve... Both the ECT and the bypass valve are easy to install.
