High Rev when car is hot

I have 2004 AUDI A4 1.8T 6speed. After driving a few kilometers and the car is hot, the revs remain high as much as 1400rpm when idling.

What can I do?

Is your rev staying high according to the gauge or based on what you hear/feel?

Tachometers can get a little sticky with time and stop displaying the correct reading.
