holy crap...Did the TBA and my boost is back to normal! 18-20psi instead of 15-17psi
I haven't been able to hit full boost for what seems like forever (5+months). At first I attributed it to cold weather, but then it got warm and I still couldn't break 17psi at all. So I figured that I must have killed my TT 710N, but that thing must still be holding on for dear life.
I pulled the ECU for 10mins, and after plugging it back in I let it sit with the key to acc for another 10mins (I usually do 5 and 3 minutes). Started it up and went up the block at WOT and hit 20psi. Did a good 15 minute run to check on things and I'm hitting 18-20psi in 2nd through 5th until 5,000 rpm. It is so damn nice to have my power back, it's been since December at least. The ECU must have adjusted to my slow driving in recent months and backed down the boost. The car is much more enjoyable to drive now. Phew. |
actually....

but how could a TBA miscalibrate itself???
|
jerk
whatchoo talkin bout?
|
I don't know how it works, I only know that doing a TBA corrects what goes wrong.
|
Or...maybe TBA erases stored values, temporarily allowing the car to run stronger,
until it learns to "behave".
I'm not sure what else the vag adaptation does besides making the ECU at one with the throttle plate limits. Anybody have any knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes when a TBA is run via vag.com? |
I think unplugging erases the learned maps... not the TBA. No?
|
Are you still interested in using my Stock ECU?
Its been a while and my memory ain't so good these days.
Cheers, |
nope, all is well(with the ECU) for the time being
You are in Katonah or Armonk area? Can I email you something? Got an email address, or send me one?
Thanks. |
You're also supposed to allow the engine to run for ~2 mins after the initial start-up without touch
-ing the gas pedal. ...this will fully do a TBA.
