How does the voltage gauge work?
Does it measure the voltage directly or through a set of reduced voltages? What is the full range of motion? For example, If I wanted the gauge to show 8 volts should I send it 8V/4V/2V etc?
Thanks. (Yes, this is for a voltmeter boost gauge)

Re: How does the voltage gauge work?
Interesting project, Dave. Normally in an analog voltmeter I think there is a couple of resistors. One in parallel and one in series with the gauge coil. I think that the force the coil exerts on the spring loaded arm is proportional to the current flowing through it, and indirectly voltage. You will have to figure out what the particular coil is in the Audi. Another potential problem I can see is in getting the signal to the gauge itself. I am assuming that there is no special wire that is dedicated to the voltmeter gauge. It's probably just using the common positive wire that powers the rest of the console. I am sure that there is a way to disconnect the voltage gauge by taking apart the console. This is quite a project though. Let us know how it goes...
