How to install front right lower door moulding
Hi guys. I have a 99 A4 1.8T Quattro. I was missing the front right (passenger side) lower door moulding so I bought a new moulding online and new clips and screw from the dealer (they told me which ones to get for my model) but I can't figure out how to install it. I took some pictures hoping to illustrate this a bit.
The 1st picture shows the new clips and screw I got from the dealer.
The 2nd picture shows the inside of the new moulding.
The 3rd pictures shows where the moulding is missing in the car. Notice the threaded-nut looking thing and the first of seven white clips that are still in the car.
The 4th and last pictures shows a close up of these 7 white clips in the car.
I'm not exactly sure how these pieces go together and I couldn't find instructions after searching here in the forum or after googling.
Any help will be deeply appreciated.

I have never seen that type of black clip before. All you need is the white ones that are on the car already and a few to replace those ones if they are broke or missing. A new screw that goes in toward the front of the door from the inside to the molding and the new molding.
Start by removing the screw that goes in toward the front of the door from the inside to the molding. The piece that that screw connects to on the outside of the door is garbage. Next fit the white clips onto the bottom of the door. Next open the door and slide the new molding onto the clips. Last screw the new screw into the molding from inside the door. Literally a 2-5 minute job.

If you still have 7 white clips on the car you don't need any new ones.It will hold well.Just do as awdehere says and slide the new one on.It's cake.I've done it several times to all of them.

Thank you for the replies and pardon my ignorance but when you say to screw the screw from inside the door, does that mean that I have to remove the door panel on the other side of the door (inside the car) to get to that hole? I'm really mis-understanding something here.

You pull that old screw that's sticking out of the door out and throw it away,Then you slide the molding on from the back of the door towards the front. You start it in the bigger opening that goes over the clips. Then it slides right along until it reaches the front. Then from the inside front corner of the door you put the new screw through into the threaded bushing that is on the molding. That is what anchors it.

There is a hole already in the bottom of the door panel for the screw. If you cant find it it is probably covered in crud.Just poke around with a small screw driver till you find it and clean it out.

The metal part that is sticking out of the door in your picture is the old bushing. The screw is probably still attached on the inside. And probably corroded, but you will be able to get it out.I had to cut the head off of one of mine with a dremel.

This is where the new screw goes through to the threaded bushing on the molding.
