Default How much material left on brake pad when it should be replaced?

My pad material is about as thick as the backing of the pad itself. Is it about time to replace?

Default You've got more left...but check the inside pad as well.

They don't always wear evenly. The inside usually wears a little faster. Peek inside the little window on the back of the caliper with a flashlight to gauge the wear on the inside pad. If you're down to 2mm or so, time to replace.

Default If it's a rear pad don't leave it to long as it can be difficult..

..to get the piston to retract even with the correct tool.
