How to remove airbox clips? 98.5 2.8 airbox
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/19556/broken_clamp_airbox.jpg"></center><p>
Anyone know how to remove the airbox clips from the lower portion of the airbox w/o having to remove the entire lower portion from the car to do so? I have a broken one (see pic) and can't seem to figure out how to remove it w/o having to take the entire assembly out of the engine compartment to get a better look and so I don't unnecessarily break something.
Oh, I STFA and came up blank on 2.8 airboxes and 1.8T ones didn't talk about clip replacement.

you could take out the air box completly and maybe get a better look at it.
Just unbolt it from the Mass Air flow sensor and unclip it from the top. Then after you have the top out of the car and the filter out. There is a bolt on the fender side holding it in, just that one bolt that I know of. Just wiggle the bottom around alittle and it will pop free. Once you have it out, you should be able to get a better look at how to remove the clip. I would do all this for you but I am sick and it is dam cold out side right now. I wish you luck.

how is your engine cover held on?...
on my 97 1.8T the engine cover is held on by the same type on connectors. if yours is the same it may help show you how they come off. or try this:: push the clip top away from the box and then down until it touchess the box upside down. at this point pushing the clip straight down may release it. good luck.
