Default I would rather get a speeding ticket...

This morning I got a ticket from a cop. It was not for speeding. It was for me to drive over the plaza to avoid the traffic. I told the cop I was intended to go to the convenience store but I changed my mind because of the time. She told me everyone gave her the same reason when she pulled them over. This lesson taught us not to lie.

Which of the following 3 options should I take???

1. Pay $75 and a conviction record will be on my driving record.

2. Pay $105 and attend a 4-hours Driving Safety Class. No conviction record
will be sent. I wonder the cost of the class (If insurance increases, it may be around $100 per year. I have to ask the insurance company.)
You can take this class only once a year.

3. Plead not guilty and appear on the court. I wonder who pays
the court fee and how much.

Thank you for your advice.

Default Contest it...

Don't know about your state, but here in Mass. you don't pay any court fees if you contest a ticket, and there's probably a 50/50 chance in your case that you could get it dismissed. It's not that bad of an offence. You could claim good driving record, assuming you have no other tickets in the last few years.

Not guilty, there is no way they can prove you didn't. Just be cool about it!

Default U wanna read this.....COPs have no JURISDICTION on private property......

If i understand u correctly, cops cannot give tickets on private property and cutting shopping centers to avoid traffic IS LEGAL!!! The cop is stupid.....find the state code book....i am 99% sure that cops can only give u a ticket if u drive wrecklessly in parking or interfereing with traffic.....(when u come out....and they see that the person behind u had to brake....that's blocking traffic and they can nail u) Aside from that.....U WERE LEGAL....they teach u at DRIVING SCHOOL too!

Default Re: U wanna read this.....COPs have no JURISDICTION on private property......

I am living in the Chicago area. I got 2 speeding tickets I was in Ohio in 1998 summer. That is. No more tickets for 3 years.

I got my Illinois driver license last June. I don't know if I am still considered to be "clean".

Is a shopping plaza considered to be private property ?

Where can I find the state code book ?

Thanks.
