Idle speed for A4 2.8Q?
#2
Same here on a 7k A4 2.8...seems to be "normal" per other posts here......
also, mine usually does a slight "shake" after the clutch pedal is depressed when stopping. The idle drops to about 700rpm, then up to about 1,000 rpm, then idles normally at 850. Apparently this is a "characteristic" of the 2.8?

The ECU will run the engine very rich upon starting.....
If you don't let the engine warm up a bit you risk the chance of fouling your plugs.
Your lucky it is warn outside, it seems to be a bigger problem when the temp is colder.<p>Brad Bilut, A4 98.5 2.8QXTipPES

I've got 5.1k miles on my '00 2.8...
When I first start the car in the mornings, the tach hovers at 1100 RPM and seems a bit rough. As the engine warms up, the idle drops down to about 700 RPM. I assume this is normal?

Re: Idle speed for A4 2.8Q?
My 98.5 2.8Q has the same "characteristics" described in this thread. Starting cold it jumps to 1100 rpm then plops down to 850 after a minute. Typically at idle you can feel the slight vibration, some say due to the v-6 design. Will audi ever venture to the inline motor?
