Interior lighting problem
I have a problem with the interior lights of my b5 1.9 tdi. It started 2 days ago. I unlocked my car, opened the door (the light turned on) sat down and turned the key in the ignition (the light didnt turn off as it always does), the motor started and i started driving with the interior and trunk lights still on.
So far i tried disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours and nothing.
Tested the rear switches and trunk switch with multimeter and they work as intended, front microswitches in the doors make an audible clicking sound in the quiet when opening and closing the lock manualy.
Opened the vacuum pump in the rear and cheked for water and corrosion, all good and dry.
Cheked the dome light in the front it works, middle position off, left always on and right on when the doors are opened (currenty always on) but it just controles the dome light the rear seat light's in the pillar are not affected by it.
Now im driving with the fuse pulled out for the interior lights and the bulbs pulled out in the trunk.
If anyone has any advice please.
Got hold of a scan tool but it cannot connect to central locking system... So i gutted the door and the micro switch on the door handle is working, the mechanisam has a couple of wires going in but i could not see the micro switch inside (cant open it compleatly without taking it inside and fiddling with it but then my car is opened on the street) so i cleaned it all with break cleaner and then spray'd with wd-40 in the hope it helps. Found 2 more switches in the lock it self and i could only access one of them the red molded one (dont know what is it coz i dont see any mechanisam) and it shows 0 ohms witch ever way i turn the key.
