Default Key-fob Separating

The remote door-lock key-fob for my '99 A4 won't stay put together anymore. The section with the fold-out key separates from the remote electronics very easily. There was a little tab that locked the two pieces together, but it appears worn away.

I'm afraid that I'm going to lose my key. Anybody have a fix for this? I don't want to buy a new key-fob.

Thanks,

--Phil

Buy a new key fob or tape it together. And if you lose your key, guess what? You'll be buying a new key fob.

Quit being cheap.

We can get replacements very easily. We can mail order the key for you usually for a bit less than the dealer. These are "generic" keys and fobs because I'd need to source your exact key by VIN, but the price point and pictures are pretty accurate. If you are interested, shoot me a PM with your VIN and I can price you out a replacement key, fob or key and fob.

Dealer will sell 4D0-837-246-B-ROH for $30 which is an updated version of what ECS sells for twice the price (4D0-837-246-B-INB).

Can you give some dealer contact info? No dealer around here has it for that price. We are happy to bring in a different part if a source can be found.

I will say that MSRP is $60, but Genuine Volkswagen Audi Parts has them at that price.

Yeah I see that too, I don't know if they pre-cut them or not though?

Pre-cut and ready to go. Both the two and three-button fobs are $63 each.

Does that cost include programming the remote code into the fob?

You are paying for parts, not service, so figure that one out.

If you can nudge the hampster a little more, you'll realize that someone figured out a decade plus ago how to program them at home. Google it.
