The remote door-lock key-fob for my '99 A4 won't stay put together anymore. The section with the fold-out key separates from the remote electronics very easily. There was a little tab that locked the two pieces together, but it appears worn away.

I'm afraid that I'm going to lose my key. Anybody have a fix for this? I don't want to buy a new key-fob.

Buy a new key fob or tape it together. And if you lose your key, guess what? You'll be buying a new key fob.

We can get replacements very easily. We can mail order the key for you usually for a bit less than the dealer. These are "generic" keys and fobs because I'd need to source your exact key by VIN, but the price point and pictures are pretty accurate. You are paying for parts, not service, so figure that one out.

If you can nudge the hampster a little more, you'll realize that someone figured out a decade plus ago how to program them at home. Google it.
