Keyless Entry Remote Problem
I have a '96 A4. After checking that the receiver was under the rear seat (with external antenna), I got a 3-button remote (not the switch blade type) from eBay. I went through the process to program the remote...turn on key til dash lights come on, exit and lock the door with another key, hold down buttons for about 5 seconds. Nothing happens. Checked the remote battery. It shows a little over 6 volts. Anyone know what the correct voltage is? What fuse does the remote system run off of (is it on with something else)? Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? Is anyone in the Monument/Colo Springs area that would let me see if the remote will set to their A4 (I promise I won't steal it). Any suggestions are appreciated.

Receiver location...
I just purchased a 98.5 with a regular old key. After hearing that my car "should" have come with remote capabilities, I looked under the rear seat and found no receiver.
Does this mean that I cannot program a remote for my car?
