Koni Coilover Install
 

Hey guys, just wondering about the difficulty of a coilover system install. I think the Koni ones fit my budget, and I was wondering how hard it is to DIY. thanks for any input.

it's easy cheesy. give yourself plenty of time the first time you do it and have a friend handy.

a rubber coated hammer, and a 5lb metal hammer may be needed along with sockets/wrenches/prybar/
 

screwdriver/spring compressor, torque wrench, jack, jack stands.

Not that Difficult, but I would have had problems if someone esle wasn't there...
 

That knew what they were doing. Also, Liquid wrench helped very much on the ball joints, and another bolt that was not going to move otherwise. I'd have it around. And do the fronts first, cuz then you are 70% there, the rears are super easy. And if you do those first you will get frustrated fast. And I think it is harder to reach some bolts on 2000 or 2001's. Mine is a 2001 and I took out the whole assembly. So my advice is to have the right tools, and someone that knows what they are doing so you know what you can and can not bang. Good Luck!!

And do yourself a favor and get it aligned afterwards, I didn't and wore the inside of my tires very fast. (Learned the hard way)

inside tire wear just means you're not cornering hard enough. =P

he'll also need a modified socket or the O-Ratchet from sears to take apart the fronts. Or maybe some really deep open wrenches(that didn't work for me).<ul><li><a href="http://www.newmantools.com/oratchet.htm">O-Ratchet</a></li></ul>

I'll get to corner real hard at an Auto-cross this weekend 8 - )
 

Trying out the susp. for the first time against the clock. I was shooting to catch my father in his '98 M3. I think he got scared and cuz he ordered 17 x 8.5 SSR comps with 245/40/17 G-Force TA's all around. So So Jeleous.

Anyone in MA area. Fort Devens this weekend. Get alot of seat time with this group. If you want info holla back.

those are helpful, but a socket/robo-grip and allen wrench work too =P
 

hammers are to help assist the bolts out in the upper front links..

I gripped a socket with a pair so vice-grips...not sugg. but worked for me.
