Lighting options, options, options. What do YOU think is best?

Okay, I'm upgrading my stock headlights on my 96 A4. Here are my options...

1. El Cheapo option. Buy two pairs H7 superwhites, and one pair H1 superwhite (H7s for low and high, and H1 for integrated fog). Clear corners. Total cost? $200.

2. Euro-style headlights, with clear corners. $450, plus bulbs, pair of H4s.

3. Euro-style headlights, clear corners, AND lower fascia fogs. $690

4. Xenons $1300, if they ever come into the country.

5. Here's an interesting idea--I could buy the 99.5 OEM projector-style headlights for $230ish each side, and install those into my car. Cool looking. I have no idea what bulb they take, though. I would also probably have to install lower fascia fogs for an additional $230 or so.
Total cost on THAT, if I can even get the wiring right, 690.

Advice?

Thanks,
Dan

I bought the H7s for my 98 A4 Avant. They look great. However, in my opinion I would only buy the bulbs for the low beams. The fogs look exactly like the regular bulbs...and I tend to flash my brights a bit (slow folks in the fast lane) and I do not think the H7s are a durable as the regular bulbs. Besides I have 99 328i with real Xenons and the brights are NOT xenon...

Personally, I would go with option #3.

My suggestions

I would go with either 3 and 5, but if you are going to get the projector style lights from the new 99.5, why no wait for the 2000 xenon option projector lights.. I think it shouldn't be a problem getting them from the dealer or aftermarket shop..

But for the ultimate headlight system would be setup I am currenly working on.. I have the S4 xenon headlights and am working on installing 99.5 foglights retrofited with xenon's.. I purchased a used BMW 7 series xenon headlight unit and am using the ballast and capsules form the headlight for the fog lights!

i got a set of 100w H7 and 100w H1 for $50 (my friend owns a autoshop)...

they normally do a 150% markup...so always ask the store to give you a better deal than the sticker price.

same problem

I have a 99.5 A4 and have the stock Valeo one piece units. I want to find out if the Bosch OEM units will fit in my A4. I understand that I would also need to get clear corners (something I want to do anyway) if the conversion is possible. Are there any 99.5 A4 owners out there who have done this conversion? The Bosch OEM headlamp assembly can be found at Greedspeed's site.

A4 lighting from Greedspeed
