Default longevity of an a4..

im looking to purchase a used a4 for around 10g. my main concern though, is the mileage on all the cars at this price. im looking at an awsome 1998 1.8t, but its at about 101,000miles, is this gunna be a huge issue for me? or....?

thanks

As long as the car has been and is continued to be taken care of, it still has the whole second half of its life to look foward to!

Default Really depends on how it was maintained.

Could work out well for you, or it could blow up the first day. Could go either way.

10,000 may be a little high for a car with 101,000 miles. Try and talk them down a bit.

Default Yeah...

Ive seen these cars with that kind of milage go for a lot cheaper, try and talk him down to the 8-9k range, maybe even cheaper depending what kind of shape its in, but you can definitly get that car cheaper!

its a real clean, has rs4 wheels, michi pilot sports, ecode headlamps and taillamps, and is tinted, so some money has been put into making it look nice...should add some value, no?

Little bit, try and offer him a bit less than 10 though, he should budge if he wants to get rid

Default 1.8T vs 2.8

well, i love turbo cars, i own one (supra tt) for 7 years.. and love every second of it.

1.8T doesnt consume as much gas when you dont need it, and give you the punch (and flexibility) when you need the T..

However, keep in mind that turbo is a high maintenance item.. not just itself, but the heat generated issues and complicated accomdations (IC, IC pipes, seals, valves, etc).. might be pain in the *** to take care.. and another pain in the *** to locate the problem source and to fix.

if you are an lazy man like me. then get 2.8... it's less likely to go wrong, and easier to find out the problem if it should.

As far as KBB is concerned, aftermarket doesnt matter... Even without that I think 10k is to high...
