Default loud whirring/whining sound when starting up

For the first time, I started up my car this morning and heard a loud whirring/whining noise, almost like a fan motor was spinning but had resistance or something caught in the blades... hard to describe. It went on for about 5 seconds, and before I could wipe the stupid look off my face and get out of the car, it had gone away.

The car runs fine, I was boosting fine, everything seemed okay... any clues as to what to look for? Just a suspect of a cold morning? Thanks..

Default no cel?

could be your vaccuum line connecting to the sai is leaking. iirc, there is a recall for vac lines check the nthsa website. if not it could be the pump itself.

Default As you put more miles on the car and the engine ends up with more wear

you will notice the secondary air pump come on for a few minutes while the car is in cold idle. If the pump stays on all the time or comes on while the car is already warmed, then I would start looking for issues.

Default Cool, thanks Mike.

The noise just didn't sound normal, and it hasn't come back, so...

cold weather doesnt cause the problem, just makes it much worse.
