Many Interesting TSBs...
Howdy all,
In perusing the many TSBs at the VW website, I've found many particularly interesting ones. The TSBs are in PDF format, so you'll have to get Adobe Acrobat Reader (Version 4 is the latest).
Check out the TSBs for yourself, I'd recommend printing out a copy and showing it to the service people when you bring your car in for service. Especially the one about the remote range.
I think the URL should be in the a4.org FAQ.
Enjoy!
-PhilJ
---------------------------------------------
01-99-01, 01-99-02: Engine misfires
66-99-01, 66-99-02: Heated Mirrors (ALWAYS on 96-Jan99, after Jan 1999 on only when ambient temp is below 59F/16C.)
66-99-04: Wind noise on outside mirrors (install a gasket)
68-99-02: Armrest creaking due to design change June 1998 (apply tape, shave off some plastic)
87-99-01: Air conditioner not cold enough (replace condenser)
92-99-01: skipping wiper blades (clean windshield, adjust angle)
94-99-01: Moisture inside headlights (normal due to vented headlights, disappears after several minutes with headlights on)
01-98-07: Remote reprogramming info, also see the A4.org FAQ. (ONE free reprogramming)
17-98-01: Oil drain plug tightening torque (50 Nm/36.9 ft-lb for the 1.8T)
37-98-01: Delayed 1-2 shift with auto trans during warm-up (normal for 2 minutes, emissions reasons)
37-98-03: Whine/whirr noise at speeds with 1.8TQ auto/tip (install transmission noise deadening shields)
40-98-02: Noisy front suspension (suspension shipping spacers not removed during delivery)
42-98-02: Knocking/creaking from rear axle, FWD only (replace rear axle bushing)
57-98-02: Remote key distance (install new remote transmitter antenna lead.
