Default Massive coolant leak above oil pan(engine front) and above oil filter! Help Needed!

It is 99.5 2.8 Quattro Manual with 137K. Timing job was done at late 70K. Yesterday, I drove my car to Austin,Tx(120Miles away). Arriving there, I noticed my coolant loss which is way more than usual. My car has this same coolant leak from the same place for 4 months(little loss). I could see the coolant quick dripping from both locations. Another symptom i noticed is the squeaky sound while I upshift to higher gear early(rev is lower than the idling rpm). The sound is coming from the front of engine. It is not related to AC. So what could be the problems? Water Pump? Hoses? Thanks!

My oil pan was cracked two months ago. Is it related to oil cooler?

Default a comment....

You might check your waterpump. When it starts to go on our 2.8, the coolant trails down by the oil filter. Make sure the waterpump does not seize, or it can cause the timing belt to break or jump time which will result in bent valves. Sounds like your due for another pump at a minimum.
I found when the oil cooler went on our 30v, it just weaped slightly around the cooler seem. Tended to trail coolant on the bottom of the oil pan if at all. Not to be an alarmist, if that coolant leak is the pump you might consider addressing that asap. Regards

Default 2nd on this - and I wonder if the wp was done when the timing belt was done

He is also due for a new timing belt anyway at ~70k miles since the last one

How does one crack a oil pan?

Default the part that your oil filter screws onto is your oil cooler

however that was just a guess

Default "My car has this same coolant leak from the same place for 4 months"

Why wouldn't you get this looked at earlier?? The coolant system is under pressure. ANY leak is only going to get worse, and more often than not, it will leave you with a very big problem on your hands when the leak blows wide open.

Sorry, I know this doesn't help you now, but hopefully it will in the future. Small oil leaks can often be left alone (but the source should be identified, so you can be sure there will be no other complications), but coolant leaks should just be dealt with if you need the car to be reliable.
