Default Morbid request

I've been considering buying harnesses for my car. There's been and is currently discussion going on in the Motorsports forum about the advisability of installing harnesses without a rollbar. This is because of the potential of the roof collapsing on your neck and your inability to move out of the way with the harnesses on. I think it's a valid point, but it might be more valid with a weak roofed Honda than an Audi. I remember some posted pictures of rolled A4's. Could anyone post pictures of crashed/rolled A4's so we can see how intact the roofs stay? Thanks a lot - you might save a life!

Default if you crashed and landed upside down with your harnesses on,

you could still manage to get out of them. just undo the belt clip. if they are too tight, just loosen them up. they would just hold you in better if your car was to roll around. i still think you could get out of them though.

Default That's not the point

If you rollover and the roof collapses on your head; and the harnesses keep you from moving too the side you die!

Default He's talking about during, not after.

Which is why I have always believed that it is safer without, if you don't have a bar overhead.

Default Good point Mark

Before I left CA for Colorado - there was a big article in the Bay Area of a couple who rolled the Miata - no roll bar. The couple was missing for a week, before their friends look for them and found the tracks of a car going off a edge - they were in the Santa Cruz mountains, if I remember correctly. They were found alive, and at first when the stories were coming out I wondered why they did not craw to safety. They had been belted and survied the rollover crash. It turns out that their necks were broken (no roll bar) and could not move any limbs - even to undo their seat belts.
