Default My Misfire

Car started running like $hit when I was doing about 50. Got the blinking CEL, car feels like crap and I immediately thought misfire. Was almost at a friends so just continued the next couple hundred feet. When I left a few hours later, it was running fine. I couldn't get it to do it again. I start heading home and it starts up again. I scanned and got this for the engine codes:

17708 - Misfire Detected. Probably Reason: Low Fuel
P1300 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17708 - Misfire Detected. Probably Reason: Low Fuel
P1300 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 35-00 - -
16686 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
P0302 - 35-00 - -
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 35-00 - -
16686 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
P0302 - 35-00 - -

So do spark plugs and do a coil pack on cylinder 2? Is it safe to drive a few miles to where I need to get the part?

Thanks!

Juggle the coil packs and see if the misfire follows. Could be plugs or ICM as well.

1999.5 1.8T AEB. I juggled the coil packs. Misfire still read cylinder 2. When I pulled the coil from the second to the front It didnt look clean in there like the others. Bad smell also. Plugs?

I have also noticed small little misfires here and there but can that "dirtyness" I just remembered is from when i got the car and was told oil was leaking into the number 2. The valve cover gasket was replaced so I believe that is just the residue.

Default Same problems.

I had the same problems and was experiencing everything you said. 99.5 1.8T ran absolutely horrible between 2000 and 4000 rpm's. Cylinder 4 miss fire. I cleaned and gapped the plugs and it ran better but not 100%. I recently replaced the plugs about a week ago and it runs a-lot better. Still waiting for the coil packs to come in so I can replace them.

Default Re: Yes.

Not doubting you. Do you think it will be safe to drive the car about 3 miles down the street to the parts shop tomorrow morning?

Thank you all for the help tonight. At least I will be able to get to sleep.
