my new ride!

well it looks like I will be joining you all from the 80/90 forum. I needed to get a car with some more room for business purposes. I got a pretty good deal on this 1999.5 A4 avant 1.8t with a manual tranny and black leather interior. I think the first mods that I am going to do to it are the S4 engine mounts, allroad tranny mounts, and a purems snub. Of course I will need to check the thing over and replace the cooland, brake fluid, tranny and diff fluid. Probably a new timing belt too since the car has 101,000 on the clock.

Nice

If you don't have any records for it, I would hesitate drving it far at all without doing that TB job.

Nkugs90 05-15-2006 09:03 AM

Yeah I feel the same way you do...

I have relatives who live near it so I am probably going to do the tb at their house before I take it back home. Unless that is there is record of it being done recently.

TwentyValveB5+S4 05-15-2006 09:15 AM

welcome, i made a similar progression :)

ImAwesome 05-15-2006 09:15 AM

BSK 05-15-2006 09:17 AM

jeeeessshhhh its another avant!

Silver Streakin' 05-15-2006 09:21 AM

have you done your TB?

Sal R. 05-15-2006 09:38 AM

Hot sauce.

TristanP 05-15-2006 09:40 AM

Haha

Not yet. I'm ordering the parts this week.

Carson (K03x2) 05-15-2006 10:01 AM

I see you stepped up to quattro as well!

Congratulations on the purchase.

Mr. Mom 05-15-2006 10:14 AM

just so you know, its pleather not leather

B5 A4's didn't have leather option. Pleather or cloth

TristanP 05-15-2006 10:22 AM

1.8T B5 A4s you mean

It was available on the 2.8.

tobin 05-15-2006 11:01 AM

Wow, good eyes... I can barely see that little thing

TwentyValveB5+S4 05-15-2006 11:01 AM

right, and "leatherette" for the 1.8t if you want to get technical ;-)

Carson (K03x2) 05-15-2006 11:12 AM

Watch the movie "Tomcats" for a laugh when they use that word.

Nkugs90 05-15-2006 11:57 AM

Thankyou!

Nkugs90 05-15-2006 11:59 AM

No chip but it is a quattro...

I love this year mainly because of the 1 piece headlights and updated steering wheel, although this one has the 4 spoke wheel not the 3. :o(

Nkugs90 05-15-2006 12:00 PM

This is true...

some of my friends also call it leatherette, I will probably end up looking for a decent set of S4 seats for it someday.

Nkugs90 05-15-2006 12:02 PM

LOL!

I love the part of that movie where the guy is doing this chick doggiestyle with her head out the car window and she was pukeing.

Mr. Mom 05-15-2006 12:13 PM

He purchased a 1.8T

I was commenting on that. Perhaps I should have also stated that they were available on the 2.8 only.

thanks...

Solaris 05-15-2006 12:27 PM

leatherette is the proper name, as that's what Audi calls it

Nkugs90 05-15-2006 01:16 PM

I would rather have a sedan but I need the room...

at least its alot better looking and better to drive than most other wagons.

brrman 05-15-2006 01:32 PM

Avants rule - congrats!

TristanP 05-15-2006 05:46 PM

Amen to that

Inigo Montoya 05-15-2006 06:07 PM

don't run down leatherette too hard

My car's five years old and the leatherette looks practically new. No cracks or other flaws. Not a bad seat at all.

TristanP 05-15-2006 06:24 PM

Agreed, now if it only had some good bolstering...

TwentyValveB5+S4 05-15-2006 07:55 PM

7 years old here, and it's just about perfect
