My Touchscreen / computer install...

I first want to thank everybody's previous posts with the info about disassembling interior stuff. It made my computer install project painless! I am a pretty new B5 owner, and love love love the car! After seeing some of the killer projects everyone has accomplished here, I know mine isn't so special, but having 600 cds, XM satellite, navigation, internet/email and other apps at my fingertips is pretty fun. I did lose my dash cupholder, and had to reroute the emergency flasher switch, but everything else is left completely stock, which made this install an easy clean weekend project. I am more than happy to provide any info about my project if anyone is interested, just email me!

Good stuff.

Have you thought about using a front end program for easier on-the-fly interface?

I noticed you weren't using one in any of your A4/X5 pics.

too bad that lilliput is ugly as sin....

Wish there was a good "James Bond"-ish way to hide the display while keeping it stock-looking.

I have looked into some other interface software, but these icons are set up to be as large as any other dash button, and menus are very easily read with the extra large font sizes I have chosen. Windows has a nice look and feel to it, and I get to change my desktop pix when I am out on weekend trips, easily load new tunes from my home network when the car is in the garage, set up playlists for the day, etc...The customization of the screen and applications is only limited by the time I feel like spending on it -- one of the really nice things is how simple this whole project was, compared to some of my projects on my other cars!
