Need an A/C Compressor
It looks like the clutch has given up on my A/C compressor. In the past 2 weeks I have done the breaks, recharged the A/C (which will now need to be done again) replaced the coolant sensor and now the A/C compressor needs to be replaced. :-( I guess with 95K on the car, I should expect this. In the past 20K miles I have already replaced 4 of the 8 tie rods, all 4 wheel bearings, the timing belt/tensioner, and the water pump. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I have a '96 A4 2.8 if anyone knows where to get a good deal on a compressor (or a clutch kit?). A good working used unit would be great too.

The 96's can have two different compressors.
Before you just replace the compressor why don't see if there is 12V to the clutch when there should be. If there is 12V but the clutch is not engaging then its the clutch, but if you have intermittent 12V it could just be the relay.

i don't see a clutch listed seperately but thet do have them for other models.

Using car-prt.com (thanks GilliamOS) I have found several usd units for $100-$150. But the point about the relay is a good one.
Here is the VAG code:
1 Fault Found:
01270 - A/C Magnetic Clutch (N25)
36-10 - Open Circuit - Intermittent
Seeing how it is intermittent, I guess it may be worth it to try the relay 1st.
Any suggestions on where the relay is and how to get at it?
