Bad Turbo

Bad Turbo
I have an Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T. The turbo is shot and i am trying to figu1re out how to replace it with a new one? It seems to be a big job! Any comments would be helpfull, Jerry.

Seriously Jerry, it just depends on your level of ability and tool box. It's not a particularly difficult job. STFA for helpful hints. It should be a few hours and requires no special tools.
Here's a video that might help. This guy did it on a gravel drive so it must be easy.

be sure you replace the oil feed line from the oil filter housing, they plug up with carbon. Also be sure your turbo didnt die from oil starvation from the oil pickup tube in the oil pan.

thanks so much for your video! It's nice to know that someone cares. In the video it looks like you have so much room where my Audi is a 1999 ,and there is no room to work! The turbo is JAMMED IN THERE! Thats the biggest problem. Does the fact that it is a 1999 make a big difference? Thanks so much for your reply.

Google will be your friend but if you are not comfortable attempting the work find a good indy shop and they can knock it out in a few hours.
