Need help with replacing the cam chain tensioner.
I'm planning to do TB job and replace the camshafts chain tensioner. I read the Bentley CD manual but wasn't sure about certain parts. (15-50 ~ 15-58)
I bought the camshaft chain tensioner and the tensioner gasket. But manual said to replace oil seals for intake and exhaust camshafts and use D 454 300 A2 sealant. Are these necessary?
Also it involves removing camshaft gear and parts around it. WouldnĄŻt it make difficult for doing TB? I was confident starting TB job but after reading about the cam chain tensioner part, IĄŻm more confused. I would appreciate if anyone can help me with cam chain tensioner part. BTW, itĄŻs for 1999.5 1.8TQ.

It's the best time to replace the cam chain tensioner when you are doing the belt...
since ideally you need to relax the belt to lift the cams up to change the tensioner. You don't need to change the cam seals unless they are leaking.
