Need some ticket help going wrong way ...

My buddy got a ticket on the grand central pkway there was a lot of traffic apparently not moving, over by the triboro, so she decides to follow everyone else on the highway and turn up the onramp, everyone was doing it according to her, so of course while going up the onramp a cop shows up and gives her a ticket for going wrong way on the onramp. what should she do? plead guilty or not guilty? she does not know the fine or how many points as it doesnt indicate it on the ticket. any suggestions? what could she use as an excuse if she tries to fight it? thanks

no getting out of that one.

She was going the wrong way up an on ramp.

Lets think about it rationally.

If there was a family exiting off a street to get onto the highway and she was coming up the on ramp..............................

Think of what may have happened.

Not for nothing but certain driving rules are meant for your safety.

I'd say don't fight it. Pay!

if the entire highway was going up the ramp, it wouldn't make her any less guilty

You need to start by determining how traffic tickets are handled in NYC.

IIRC, getting out of traffic tickets in NYC is a royal PITA, and they really don't have the kind of loopholes the rest of the world does.

In some cases, if you plead not-guilty, and show up asking for a lesser charge with no points...you'll get it. I think I've read something on these forums that indicated that dealing with traffic tix in NYC is a completely different animal.

throw the rules book out of the window.

cause when you go to court for a NYC ticket.. it does not matter if you are right or wrong.. it's if the judge likes what you have to say.

I will save you and her some trouble by saying exactly what the judge will say.

"If everyone else was driving off the side of the bridge, would you have done that too?"

Tell her to lay off the stupid pills and get some common sense.

Hmmm...

child was at home with the babysitter...babysitter called and said she was leaving in XX minutes for XYZ reason. Had to get home asap...then hit traffic on GCP. Proceeded up the ramp carefully, and at a very slow rate of speed because I wouldn't want to cause...blah blah blah.
