Neuspeed ECU, socketed or soldered
Hello, I sent my ECU to Neuspeed a couple years ago to have a 1bar chip put in. I never opened it up to see if it was socketed or if they just soldered the chip in. Can anyone tell me how Neuspeed installs their chips? If it is socketed would I be able to buy a GIAC chip out of the classified that would work in my ECU?

Neuspeed is likely flashed, not socketed.
|
You mean they burned the program into the stock chip
and resoldered it back in.
|
I don't think the stock chips are electronically reprogrammable....
|
Well then that means neuspeed had to solder a new one on
since I dont think they were doing flash loading thru the OBD port 2+ years ago.

Flashing a B5 was only for 01' and only came about on the market about 5 months ago from what I know
