im interested in buying a 96 v6 a4 and the owner states the car will not start after low oil pressure light came on...my question is what could it possibly be, is it worth it for 1000 and what am i getting into...thanks for all the help

No way of knowing without spending a couple of hours. Low oil pressure could be the sensor, but it should still start.

Parts car really unless you are experienced with these cars.

No way of really knowing, but if the oil light came on and it died, its probably a seized up engine. The 12V V6 is cheap and they are very easy to work on and real reliable. www.car-part.com for an engine. Or it could be cheaper to buy a beat up, or bad trans having 12V Audi car for next to nothing.

I would NEVER spend 1000 for it. Non running any B5 A4 or C5 A6 is work 500 or less depending on condition. Unless its absolutely mint with low miles a 1000 is insane.

My 98 A4Q With a great body and paint, so so interior, running and driving needing work was 300$. My 99 A6 Avant with a flawless body, good tires, nice interior, bad trans was 400$. So dont pay much for a dead Audi.
