A strut is a shock+spring assembly in one. A4's have seperate shocks and springs.

Default A coilover has adjustable spring perches to allow you to change the spring rates for different

cornering characteristics. Most people here just use them for the bling bling factor (as low as they can go).

Default to get more info on struts...

do a google search on macferson strut or chapman strut. not sure on the spellings. the basic difference between struts and shocke is a strut acts as a locating arm for the suspension while a shock does not. the strut suspension is therefore less expensive and more compact that an A-arm/shock suspension.

By your description above, the B5 has shocks front and rear. The B4 cars have Mac struts though..
