When I turn key to OFF position, car engine won't stop running. Noticed this problem earlier and car used to turn off if I open the door and close again. But since yesterday, it won't turn OFF at all.

I turned key to OFF position, and released the cluth quickly while in gear to turn off engine but odometer and other light won't turn off. I disconnected battery cable to turn off the power.

Searched audiworld forums to find similar issue but didn't find any. Googling this issue, I found that other make cars have similar problem and suggested replacing "Ignition Switch". Anyone has advice as to what may be problem?

Ignition switch. Common failure and I can swap one in less than 30 minutes. It required removal of the steering wheel and column cover.

Thanks for mentioning time. I took it to mechanic and he quoted me for ~4 hours of work.

4 hours seems excesive. I would figure 1 hr for diag 1.5 for repair. 30 min of actual time is probably accurate for someone who knows what they are doing, but does not reflect what time it takes the average tech in the field. Make sure the diag is correct though, that is where it pays to pay.

We should note, having much weight beyond 3 keys and your starbucks frequent purchaser card can greatly reduce the life expectancy of your switch.
