Default and I bet it smelled bad too eh? be nice to your clutch...

sounds like you reved to high and the clutch slipped... if it happens again, just let off the gas and hit it again in a second... the clutch will have a chance to grip, then it will hold...

Default i ve done this a few times and i figured out how to solve listen here!!1

WHen ur racing avoid holding the clutch in for as long as possible, because when u hold it in it starts to heat up and has the potential to STICK which is what happened to you. So keep your foot off the clutch until the last second dump and go.. this problem should be avoided.. if not let your car sit for a while and try again because your clutch should now be cool.. i know this because im 17 years old and have a 1.8t a4 with some mods and the civics all want a piece!!! if u need more info just ask and ill tell u all i know

Default Get a better clutch. The stock clutch is only a 1500 lbs pressure plate

and was made for 200 hp or lower for normal street driving. I was using our proto type 2000 lbs pressure plate setup. We now sell a stage 2 2300 lbs and stage 3 3500 lbs setups. My next clutch will be the 3500 lbs, the one that was on my car would take a 6k rpm launch with the 335 hp I was making with the PES T38 kit on 100 octane.

Default How long you hold it in does not matter. I have almost 2 years of drag racing every weekend

with my audi. The clutch will also hold once you let off the clutch and let the rpms come back down. Most of the time when a clutch lets go is when you
1. slip the clutch too much when you start to take off
2. get too throttle happy and go too high in the rpms.
The stock clutch is not made to race and is too weak to hold anything above 4K on a launch.

Default nah all wrong.

I have the gear stick in Reverse first, Hold the brake Hard on, and hold rpms and about 5500rpm.
Release clutch slowly so you ride the Clutch.
You need to heat up the Clutch as much as possible.
This will not wear you clutch as most of your driving is done in forward gear.
Once Clutch is heated up to optimum temp, you can tell this by a slight smell of burning Sugar, the immedialy slam it into first, floor accellerator so ecu is controlling engine by rpm limiter, the flick foot side ways off the clutch so clutch releases instantly.
By doing it this way you should have all the best crowd pleasing launch.
