Oil Leak on 1998 2.8Q
 

My 1998 A4 2.8Q car has developed a small oil leak since my last (off warranty) oil change at 50,000 miles. My present mileage is about 51,400 and I am taking it to the dealer this Wednesday to check out. My independent Audi mechanic took off the plastic oil pan cover and confirmed that it is not the pan, oil plug or filter that is leaking. It looked like it was coming from higher in the engine area. I did a search on the forum and it appears it could be a valve cover gasket. Anyone have any similar experiences, or any ideas what it could be? I am hoping that if it is anything major it will still be covered by Audi, even though I am just over the warranty mileage (50,000) and date (Dec 31, 2000). Any off warranty dealer experiences to share???

I love the car and it really ticks me off that a leak has developed...
