That is the intake manifold not the intake tube.

Default Are you sure it is oil and not fuel?

If it is oil then you better open up the intake tube or the hose at the throttle body and see if there is oil inside.

Default That's normal...that's the grease/oil the factory used to lube/instal the injectors

The oil/grease over time expands and seeps all over the intake, making it look like u have an oil.
I have seen it on other 1.8t engine (not the AEB)

I'm not positive no, but it doesn't smell like gas. I would think gas would clean that area more than it would stain it black. It also looks like oil is leaking from the bottom of my charge air cooler, though that shouldn't be possible either. Is it possible to get oil trapped in the air system?

Yes it is because that is where the crack case breather puts the oil when it gets blown out.

Default Re: this could explain alot

I did a search for "crank case breather hose" and saw what you were talking about. I think this could explain it. I'll put it up on ramps tomorrow and check..

thanks man!

Default Take off your throttle body and look inside the IM...

Its an easy was to see exactly how much oil you've got in there. I think that you will be suprized at how much oil there is.
