ok...car is not starting...its the battery...opinions..
i just got back from a trip overseas, so the car hasnt been started for 3 weeks. it had enough juice to barely start once.
after a 15 minutes drive i tried to start the car again...it wouldnt really turn over.
the voltage meter when the car is "on" reads 9 volts.
i jumped it and its now idling...
how long should i idle to charge the battery? (or should i even do that?) thanks!
i was thinking of getting a new one anyway since the car is 5 years old, and on the original battery.

Idling to recharge if the battery is completly dead is not a good way to recharge the battery. The best thing you can do is put a trinkle charger on it and let it sit at least over night...12-24 hours would be better. If the battery is 5 years old and has been discharged a few times it maybe junk and not take a charge time for a replacement. I like Interstate and have heard good things about Sears Diehard gold.

just under 14volts...ill check it again in awhile to see if the charge holds.
