2.8 w/ PES and suspension work will put you very close to S4 territory

Default I'm about to get the Stage 3 (with quite a few others from their sale)..

and I'm quite happy about it. The 2.8 is also quite a bit heavier than the 1.8. Once the SIII goes on, im sure we will all post plenty of opnions

Default The 1.8 Stage 3 exceeds it, IMHO.

Now...

If my old '99 2.8 was a 5 speed, it would have been G2'd. wihtout a doubt.

Now?

On the fence. If I had to do it all over again.... That's tough. I want to track and do x-crossing, so I prefer a lighter moer agile car, so I'd do the 1.8 stage 3 again. BUT...

If I were to NEVER do that, and didn't enjoy modding and the WIDE range of options available with the 1.8, I would have to say I'd do the G2. I also (others Rob Andrews) would disagree, but I trust the 1.8 engine more for reliablity. IT's designed to be a forced induction engine, whereas the v6 is not. The S4 is a debored version. But, the 2.8 and v6 is one COMFORTABLE ride. Tall 5th gear, and butter smooth engine. It would be the near perfect daily driver. Only wish APR would do a kit for the 2.8.

Thanks for the insight. Since I currently have a 98.5/2.8 qm I will probably go that route.

I'd go with the 2.8 but, I don't know PES's warranty, a failed supercharger can ruin an engine

Default 2.8 with G2, of course

Especially if you want smooth and power. Obviously you can put all manner of boost into the little 1.8. And there are many kits to choose from, lots of mods and combinations of chips. With the 2.8 it's pretty much G2 or nada.

Quick Reply: Which one? Base 1.8T w/ stage 3 & suspension upgrade or base 2.8 w/ PES G2 and suspension upgrade?
