anyone else in this similar position? My wife and I have talked about getting a newer B5 A4 Avant, but we want an automatic and we think they're gutless. The alternitive....B5 S4.... but I worried about reliability issues with the S4. So my wife says lets get the B6, it will be a nice change. I dont know what to do. This is the car my wife drives so we wont be moding it at all. Any of you out there have an '01 automatic Avant with say a APR or GIAC X chip and tip chip.... how is it. Is it fast enough to get up and go... get on the freeway and what not. I just think it needs to have enought power to get going. Nothing real big time or anything. Maybe just a bit more then what our 2.8L manual has right now. Any suggestions?

it will be hard.. but look for a 2001.5 B5 S4 avant

TIP chip guys claim that they are just as fast as us real men after the chip.

I dont believe it but Im sure that they dont have problems getting up and going on the highway.

The cam seals suck, the timing belt is way more complicated and involved to do than the 2.8 or 2.7T, and it has oil filled cam gears. No thanks, I'll never buy one of those.
