Default Please Answer.... Question about audi engines....

the 4.8L in the S8 or any other high powered engines, please list the HP and Torque figures for each. I am having a small debate with a domestic buff who claims that Audi's are poorly engineered and inefficent (compared to mustangs :P) So help me out here.

Default Tell your buddy, that a rustang engine couldn't hold the jock strap of an audi engine

in engineering, HP numbers....
Just point him to the LeMans races here in the US, and show him how audi R8's everyday are coming in 1st 2nd and 3nd....Cleaning house....

Default BWAHAHAHA your buddy is in for the surprise of his life....

I've never seen American "muscle" be so poorly engineered. Cadillac had an engine that was a v8 has like 6litres or something back in the early eighties...it made like 80 hp!!!!

If he thinks Ford engineers cars better than Audi, then he's *ahem* not very bright...

Default here are some embarrasing number comparisons for ford (inside)

03 mustang gt: 4.6L v8 = 260hp/302lbft
03 svt cobra: 4.6L v8 + supercharger = 390hp/390tq

audi s8 4.2L v8 = 360hp/317tq naturally aspirated
audi a8 4.2L v8 = 310hp/302tq naturally aspirated
audi rs6 4.2L v8 biturbo = ~450hp and gobs of torque.

um .. the math is pretty simple. that guy is an uninformed, biased, self-righteous moron. =)

Default Forget about numbers, they don't tell the whole story...

The 4.6/5.0 mustangs are flat out SLOW. The 4.6 people were running mid 14s and were consistently being beat by Civics at SIR. The ONLY Mustang that brings any respect to the Mustang name, is the '02 Cobra. It was sad they had to resort to using nearly an extra liter in the Cobra R, and it's even worse that they had to supercharge the 4.6 to get 390HP. Fact is, even though they produce a good amount of power, the way it's produced means slower times.

Mike
