Default Please Help? Fog light Mod

Newbie with a 2001.5 A4 TQMS

Did the Fog light mod today, I thought it went smoothly. Cut 12, 15, & 17, jumpered 14, 15, & 17. Tried not to put too much heat into the soldering. The 3 jumpered pins test out with good continuety. Fuse 36 is still good, but the two dashboard switches no longer engage the fog lights.

Has anyone had problems with this mod on 2001.5's? I noticed that the new relays look different inside making it hard to solder. Re-seated the relay much more carefully a second time, thinking that I didn't get it right originally.

Any ideas on what to check next?

Thanks for the help!!!

Default Worked perfectly fine on my 2001...

...won't be any different for you if you did it right.

Might want to check you solder job and make sure nothing else is in contact other than the specified pins.

Worked in my '01 too. Check to make sure your solder didn't drip onto a neighboring contact.

It's your solder job.

I've yanked it all out..., de-soldered (althoug all looked well inside) and will try soldering again tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I'll go buy another fog relay and atlease see if I can get back to the original US operation.

Thanks for the help.

Default Same thing happened to me with my 2001.5. . .

Followed all of the steps and put the relay back in and fogs didn't work. I thought I messed it all up.
Just relax. In my case I'm not sure if it was the soldering or the wire, but I put it aside for the night and the next day removed the wire, cut a new piece and resoldered. Put the relay back in and it worked. I must admit after a couple months I noticed that sometimes when I start my car both the front and rear fogs are on automatically. I just resoldered and it did not fix the problem.
Like I said, RELAX. Take your time and you will get it to work.

Good Luck.

Advice - Take your time, don't add a lot of solder compound, and use thin gauge wire.
