Problems with the cat!

So i start driving Friday afternoon, hoping to get from potsdam ny to boston... around 370 miles. When i'm a little over half way through the trip the engine starts to bog way down. Eventually i can't keep it going forward, so i get to the breakdown lane of the north-way and the car stalls. When i start it the engine seems okay bu under the car is the worst noise, that gets worse with higher rpm. Needless to say my cat had collapsed on its self. I have a 2.8 12v and just converted to a single cat this 3in in/out magnaflow cat this summer. So it is brand new maybe 2000 miles one it. Buddies and I start pulling the spark plugs to see if one went bad and went through on the cat, they were fine. I had also just gotten fuel right before his happened. I can't even get the car to start to limp it's way down the highway so we flatbeded it to an audi dealer where my buddy's dad works. I have no codes, no check engine lights and no symptoms right up until it fails. I have contacted hottexhaust.com and they said they will replace it if I send them the cat, or just some of the internals to prove it was not melted by gas. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on what could cause this. Sorry for the rambling, bad spelling and grammar. Any input is appreciated. Thanks
