Purchase Plan Dilemma (buy out current car or lease new one?)
Hi Folks,
The term on my premier purchase plan that I used to buy my A4 is up next month and I am faced with the following options. Thoughts anyone?
1. Buy (refinance) the car at its residual value for $21k
2. Return the car to Audi and lease a TT
3. Return the car to Audi and lease a used M3 or M coupe
4. Try to sell my A4 myself and see if I can get more than $21K and use the difference towards leasing another car.
Considerations:
A. Cost - With the same amount down, my monthly paymnets would be slightly cheaper if I leased the TT or used M3 than if I were to buy my current car. However, at the end of a 4 year refinance, the car would be mine whereas I will be faced with this same dilemma four years later if I leased. I average about 15K miles/year, so 4 years from now, my current A4 would have 90K miles on it.
Would it be realistic for me to sell my 1999 A4 1.8TQ 5 speed with sport package, convenience pakage, winter package, 6 CD changer, APR 3.0 chip and Yakima roof mounted bike rack for more than $21K? I'm in the Los Angeles area.
Thanks for your input.
