Default yes and no

are you paying for it or are your parents? it is a pretty expensive car for your first one. if your parents are buying it (lucky bastard) try to get one from the dealership with a warranty. if you are buying it yourself, remember that yearly maintainance is expensive, so take that into consideration. you should have some knowledge about how to work on your own car, and you should keep between $500 and $1000 in your bank account in case something breaks. but for a first car, its a great choice. they are very safe and perform great in the rain and snow. there is room for your friends in it, and the girls will be all over you in the high school parking lot.

I have a 96 2.8 Quattro, I had to learn how to drive stick to get it, but it was well worth it. I had to fight my parents every step of the way to get it, but it's so crazy cool. Best first car ever.

But in 6 months of owning the car I've spent about $200 on little irritating things about the car, and I'm looking at replacing a control arm too, which will set me back at least three or four times that much.

Too good and expensive to maintain for a young punk. Get an old Toyota Tercel or Honda Civic (something safe but with lack of guts) till you know how to drive (like, say around 30.) and how to work on them.

Default i agree. people should learn how to drive and take care of a car

that isnt too nice or fast. getting an a4 for your first car kind of ruins what you have to look forward to as your next car imo
