Question about quattro and axle/CV joint problems.

What a day! I just got finished doing a valve cover gasket, fabricating a new plumbing system as replacement for old brittle crankcase vent tubes, gasket sealed the intake port on the back of the engine (2.8l), and replaced brittle/broken vac lines.

Went for a test drive and as soon as I got about 20ft from the house, the passengers side CV joint went. Just keep spining. My question is - since it's an all wheel drive car, shouldn't the rear wheels get the power and move the car?

no

you are experiencing ZWD right now. Its what happens when a quattro IV lifts a wheel or drops an axle.

The torsen is being presented with zero load on one end... zero times 3 or 4 = zero right. So with no resistance at one end the driveline essentially unloads into that one corner, kinda like the path of least resistance.

This is why quattro IV uses abs to electronically controll wheel spin, otherwise a single free spinning wheel can disable the car.

Thanx for your insight! I was worried my quattro wasn't working.
